Dr. Betsy teaches two yoga classes a week that blend psychology and yoga at her studio, Heartland Yoga. You can join in person or online.
Many call my classes a mix of psychology, spiritual insight, and physical movement. My intention with every class is to provide healing and to guide people toward their innate guidance.
Tuesday class runs in 10-week sessions, allowing for the exploration of a theme. Past themes include the root chakra, connection, intuition, finding yourself, and alignment/integration. You can purchase past series as a bundle to watch at any time by clicking here.
In each class, we flow through poses at a slow-to-moderate pace with a specific focus on alignment. I integrate mudras, mantras, breath techniques, positive psychology, and meditation with the physical postures to help people fully embody the theme of our class that day. You will leave with a vibrant body, open mind, compassionate heart, and lightness of being.
We do recommend committing to the entire session to receive the full depth of the current exploration, but you may drop in at any time, even in the midst of a session.
At the start of the pandemic, I offered free online Saturday yoga classes as a way to help people emotionally, mentally, and physically build resilience during the massive shifts we were all experiencing. The community quickly grew to upwards of hundreds of people practicing all across the United States.
Although the free class eventually went away, I decided to re-instate it because everyone is still feeling the effects of the pandemic. Mental health challenges have skyrocketed, and some experts say we are in a mental health crisis.
This class is not a replacement for mental health care, but we do know that research has established yoga promotes recovery from and treatment of addiction, reduces stress, anxiety, depression, and chronic pain, improves sleep patterns, and enhances overall well-being and quality of life.
